Basketball Recap: Cambridge Academy Piles Up the Points Against Midlands STEM Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cambridge Academy). They blew past the Midlands STEM Charter Mavericks, posting a 68-29 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Leading Cambridge Academy to victory were Maddox Lee and Andrew Wiley. Lee almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine boards, while Wiley dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lee has scored at least a third of Cambridge Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Gentry Phillips, who posted six points.

Cambridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Cambridge Academy's record is now 2-7. As for Midlands STEM Charter, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Cambridge Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against Richard Winn Academy at 6:00 p.m. As for Midlands STEM Charter, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lee Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th.
