Basketball Recap: Gilbert Skates Past Columbia with Ease

Gilbert was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Columbia on Tuesday. The Gilbert Indians simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Columbia Capitals 59-23. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Capitals, too.

Leading Gilbert to victory were Blythe Price and Alexis Gartmon. Price dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards, while Gartmon went 8 of 15 on her way to 20 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Gartmon a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Campbell, who posted four points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Gilbert smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Gilbert's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Gilbert didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-25 loss against White Knoll on the 5th. As for Columbia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-16 defeat against Airport on the 6th.
