Beech's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Pope John Paul II Knights 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (101-99) Beech actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 16-25, 18-25, 25-20, 15-13.

Pope John Paul II's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Fisher, who had 25 digs and two aces. Payton Parizek was another key player, getting 17 digs and three aces.

The victory got Beech back to even at 1-1. As for Pope John Paul II, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beech will head out to face off against Station Camp at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Buccaneers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Pope John Paul II, they will head out on the road to square off against Christian Community at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
