Volleyball Game Preview: Galena Pirates vs. Eastland Cougars

The Galena Pirates will challenge the Eastland Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Galena sitting on three straight wins and Eastland on five.

Galena is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Lena-Winslow by a score of 2-0.

Galena got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zoe Blaum out in front who had 19 digs and two assists. Those 19 digs gave Blaum a new career-high. Emma Ehrler was another key player, getting 33 assists and 14 digs.

Meanwhile, Eastland posted their closest win since October 11th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Milledgeville 2-1.

Eastland's victory bumped their record up to 27-10. As for Galena, their win bumped their record up to 29-6.

Galena was able to grind out a solid victory over Eastland when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
