Baseball Recap: Osceola Comes Up Short

After flying high against St. Petersburg last Thursday, Osceola came back down to earth. The Osceola Warriors fell just short of the Wesley Chapel Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 9-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Brock Golden was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Osceola saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Daly, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Osceola's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Wesley Chapel, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Osceola will square off against Dunedin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Osceola 3.5, Dunedin 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Wesley Chapel, they will take on Springstead at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Springstead will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Wesley Chapel surely won't give up without a fight.
