Basketball Recap: Aquinas Sets Scoring Season-High Against St. Cecilia

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Aquinas). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 67-28 victory over the St. Cecilia Bluehawks. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Bluehawks are ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aquinas got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryant Stouffer out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Stouffer has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailer Pohl, who posted 16 points and four steals.

Aquinas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for St. Cecilia, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.

Aquinas has already played their next contest, a 53-49 victory against Kearney Catholic on the 25th. As for St. Cecilia, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th.
