Preview: Northwest Vikings vs. Adams Central Patriots

After five games on the road, Northwest is heading back home. They will take on the Adams Central Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Northwest has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Northwest pushed their score all the way to 56 last Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 65-56 loss to York. Northwest found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up nine fewer assists than your opponent.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sam Dinkelman, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Bykerk, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Northwest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Adams Central didn't have too much trouble with Ord at home on Tuesday as they won 58-43. 58 seems to be a good number for Adams Central as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Adams Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Teichmeier, who scored 15 points. Dylan Janzen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Northwest has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Adams Central, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Northwest strolled past Adams Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 43-29. Will Northwest repeat their success, or does Adams Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
