Nixon entered their tilt with Martin on Wednesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They strolled past the Martin Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 53-35. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Tigers are ranked 940th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nixon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Palumbo, who went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds. Palumbo is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Uli Torres was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Nixon is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.5 points per game. As for Martin, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-14.
