Football Recap: Andrew Jackson Starts Season with Win Against KIPP Bold City

Andrew Jackson gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They claimed a resounding 51-0 victory over the KIPP Bold City Greyhounds. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 516th).

Andrew Jackson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Antonio Queen led the charge by rushing for 107 yards and two TDs on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamar Stanfield, who threw for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Andrew Jackson, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Queen, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Andrew Jackson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Burnell Jones was the leader with two sacks. Another thorn in KIPP Bold City's side was Marshaun Parker, who made four total tackles (2.0 for loss) and snagged an interception which he returned for a touchdown.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andrew Jackson is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Ribault at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for KIPP Bold City, they will take on First Coast at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
