Baseball Recap: New Albany Takes a Loss

New Albany lost against North Pontotoc back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. New Albany fell just short of North Pontotoc by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.

Parker Skinner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, New Albany saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Ewing, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

New Albany's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-8. As for North Pontotoc, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-8.

While New Albany had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
