Softball Game Preview: Dobson Mustangs vs. Westwood Warriors

The Dobson Mustangs will square off against the Westwood Warriors at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Dobson hasn't scored more than a single run for five games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Dobson came up short against Mountain View on Monday, falling 22-1.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Westwood made sure to put some runs up on the board against Skyline on Thursday. Westwood blew past Skyline 16-4. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Lilly Hutchison spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emily Stacey, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Hutchins, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Westwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are undefeated (4-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win got Westwood back to even at 7-7-1. As for Dobson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
