Basketball Game Preview: Lapeer Lightning vs. Davison Cardinals

The Lapeer Lightning will venture away from home to square off against the Davison Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lapeer is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since February 23, 2024 on Monday. They were beaten by Lake Orion 63-35. The Lightning haven't had much luck with the Dragons recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Davison played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 84-52 defeat at the hands of East Lansing. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-20.

Davison has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Lapeer, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Lapeer was taken down by Davison 85-40 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Lapeer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
