Baseball Game Preview: Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers vs. Sequoyah Chiefs

Howard Tech is 0-4 against Sequoyah since April of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Hustlin' Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Chiefs at 12:00 p.m. Howard Tech has given up an average of 13 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Howard Tech is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They fell 12-8 to Tyner Academy.

Jamal Cal made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Eusi Hamilton, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Sequoyah came into Wednesday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Tellico Plains with a sharp 18-8 win on Wednesday.

Sequoyah got a massive performance out of Tristan Tipton, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, Tipton posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Logan Johnson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Sequoyah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Sequoyah's record now sits at 6-11. As for Howard Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Howard Tech suffered a grim 30-3 defeat to Sequoyah in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Hustlin' Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
