Baseball Recap: Mountainburg's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mountainburg entered their tilt with Providence Academy on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Patriots.

Ryan Allen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bryson Quinalty was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Mountainburg pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Providence Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountainburg will head out to face off against Alpena at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons are facing the Leopards at the right time seeing as the Leopards are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Providence Academy, they will take on Elkins at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
