Basketball Recap: Sacred Heart Academy Skates Past Williamsville North with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Sacred Heart Academy on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Williamsville North Spartans out of the water with a 60-23 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Sharks had established a 25 point advantage.

Leading Sacred Heart Academy to victory were Emilee Bacon and Anna Ratchuk. Bacon dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Ratchuk posted 11 points along with eight boards and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Bacon a new career-high in points. Makenna Chamberlain was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven boards and six assists.

Sacred Heart Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 20 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Sacred Heart Academy pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Williamsville North, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Sacred Heart Academy and Mount St. Mary Academy will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Sacred Heart Academy's defense has only allowed 28.2 points per game this season, so Mount St. Mary Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Williamsville North, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hamburg at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
