Basketball Game Preview: McDonogh Eagles vs. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars

McDonogh and Our Lady of Mount Carmel are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The McDonogh Eagles will be playing at home against the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, McDonogh beat Boys Latin 64-60.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of Mount Carmel entered their tilt with Gilman on Wednesday with ten consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 11. They came out on top against the Greyhounds by a score of 59-49. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Greyhounds are ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel pushed their record up to 23-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for McDonogh, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
