Jackson Gillespie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Thomas More Prep-Marian over Smith Center

Starting off the list is Thomas More Prep-Marian's Jackson Gillespie, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Gillespie rushed for 166 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

On the year, Gillespie has run in 5 touchdowns while averaging 65.8 rushing yards per game.

Norton Wins Fifth-Straight Thanks to Eli Jones

Norton picked up their fifth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Eli Jones. Beloit had no answer to Jones as he threw for 115 yards and a touchdown.

If history really does repeat itself, Jones might just drop another big game when he faces off against Russell on Friday. When Jones last faced the Broncos back in October of 2023, he rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 143 yards and a touchdown.

Tyler Backman and Co. Win Fifth in a Row

Tyler Backman's big game helped extend Norton's winning streak to five on Friday. Backman was unstoppable, rushing for 45 yards and a touchdown.

Beloit had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Backman it was a similar story. When Backman last faced the Trojans back in October of 2023, he rushed for 71 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 43 receiving yards.

Rex Eberle Makes Top Five

Rounding off our Top Five is Rex Eberle of Oakley. Eberle picked up two sacks and made six total tackles.

On the season, Eberle has averaged 3.6 total tackles per game and for the season has 3 sacks. He is looking even better than he did last year: after five games last season, he was only averaging one total tackle per game.
