Football Recap: Northwest Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Malachi Chavez and Laki Wallwork + How To Watch

Northwest Christian and Mohave squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Northwest Christian had to settle for second. They fell 42-34 to the Thunderbirds. While the Crusaders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Thunderbirds 14-7 in the first quarter.

Laki Wallwork and Malachi Chavez certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Wallwork threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns, while Chavez picked up 88 receiving yards and three TDs. Wallwork is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Mohave had a senior duo take command as Deegan Perry gained 156 total yards and four touchdowns and Joe Yoney threw for 228 yards and three TDs. Yoney didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Northwest Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Mohave, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Northwest Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mohave, they will challenge ALA - West Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
