Softball Game Preview: Watervliet Cannoneers vs. Waterford-Halfmoon Fordians

The Watervliet Cannoneers will face off against the Waterford-Halfmoon Fordians at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

After dropping their season opener at home, Waterford-Halfmoon is headed out to face a Cannoneers squad ready to give their home crowd a win. Watervliet lost 20-9 to Coxsackie-Athens on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Jaden Sierra stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Donnelly, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Waterford-Halfmoon fell victim to Tamarac and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bengals, falling 21-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Fordians' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
