Baseball Recap: Linden Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Linden won against Sierra last Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Lions walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Calaveras Red Hawks. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Red Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Linden got a great performance from Matthew Schallberger as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Schallberger has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nikko Vigna was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. James Boysen also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Linden's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.4 runs. As for Calaveras, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-13.

Coming up, Linden will host Big Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Linden is facing Big Valley Christian at the right time seeing as Big Valley Christian is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Calaveras, they are taking a road trip to take on Bret Harte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bullfrogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Red Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
