Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Trojans vs. Middle Township Panthers
After a string of five wins, the St. Thomas Aquinas Trojans's good fortune finally ran out on Sunday. They were outmatched by Middle Township at home and fell 81-54. While losing is never fun, St. Thomas Aquinas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Middle Township is ranked 11th).
Anthony Trombetta was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points for Middle Township. The match was Trombetta's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Re'Ale Basquine, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
St. Thomas Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 5-1. As for Middle Township, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
St. Thomas Aquinas will be playing in front of their home fans against East Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middle Township and Ocean City will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Ocean City will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
