After each having a week off, the Mountain View Toros and the Corona del Sol Aztecs will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Mountain View is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past South Mountain 74-0 last Tuesday. Given the Toros' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona flag football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Jaguars are ranked 113th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Mountain View's victory came down to the chemistry between TIERAH METCALF and her top target EMMA FISCHBECK. METCALF threw for 342 yards and six TDs while completing 85.7% of her passes while FISCHBECK picked up 244 receiving yards and five scores. With that strong performance, FISCHBECK is now averaging an impressive 135.2 receiving yards per game. BROOKE WHITING also helped with two touchdowns in total.
One reason for the win was Mountain View's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, EVE DENTON was the leader with two. DENTON is crushing it when it comes to sacks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the field this season. WHITING got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Corona del Sol got themselves on the board against Camelback last Thursday, but Camelback never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 52-0 win over the Spartans. The Aztecs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 44 points or more this season.
Mountain View better keep an eye on Alana James. She was instrumental in Corona del Sol's win, throwing for 292 yards and four TDs while completing 80% of her passes, and also punching in one rushing score. What's more, James posted four rushing yards, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. Mariah Ruelas was another key player, picking up 104 receiving yards and one score.
Corona del Sol pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 1.8 points on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Keep an eye on the quarterbacks in this one, as these two don't mess around when it comes to the passing game. Mountain View has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 276.8 passing yards per game. However, it's not like Corona del Sol struggles in that department as they've been averaging 272.4 passing yards. There's a good chance Tuesday's contest turns into a classic QB duel.
