Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Asotin's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Asotin won the last time they faced Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 24-2 margin over the Broncos. Considering the Panthers have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

COOPER THOMAS made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Asotin got a massive performance out of CODY ELLS, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. ELLS also put up a double, which was his first of the season. CHASE ENGLE was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

Asotin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Asotin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Asotin will be playing in front of their home fans against Colfax at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, they will head out to face off against Connell at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Broncos surely won't give up without a fight.
