Baseball Game Preview: Smith Valley Bulldogs vs. Mineral County Serpents

Smith Valley has gone a perfect 10-0 against Mineral County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Smith Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Mineral County at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Smith Valley has five straight wins, Mineral County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Smith Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 23-8 margin over Virginia City on Saturday. Considering the Bulldogs have won five matchups by more than 12 runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Smith Valley got a massive performance out of Luke Lannom, who scored five runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Lannom is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Wulfing, who went 1-for-4 with five stolen bases, six RBI, and three runs.

Meanwhile, Mineral County came up short against Wells on Saturday and fell 8-3.

Smith Valley's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mineral County, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Smith Valley took their victory against Mineral County when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-1. Will Smith Valley repeat their success, or does Mineral County has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
