With a playoff win on the line, Iola rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over the Danbury Panthers. Considering the Bulldogs have won 11 games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brody Vaughn was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brek Roberts was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Cooper Cadro was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Iola has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Danbury, the loss snapped their winning streak at 17 games and leaves them with a 24-7 record.

As of now, neither Iola nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
