Baseball Recap: Canon City Wins Going Away Against La Junta

Canon City had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt La Junta on Thursday. Canon City was the clear victor by a 16-4 margin over La Junta. This was payback for Canon City, who suffered a 7-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Canon City got a massive performance out of Tanner Leonard, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Edgardo Cubero was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Canon City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Junta only posted an OBP of .344.

Canon City now has a winning record of 2-1.

Canon City will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pueblo County at 4:00 p.m. on the 27th. As for La Junta, they have already played their next match, a 21-1 loss against The Classical Academy on the 15th.
