Basketball Recap: Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech Comes Up Short

Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Downey Christian Patriots on the road by a 80-66 margin. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Downey Christian was led to victory by Maylon Marte and Rhiaughn Ferguson. Marte went 7 of 9 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists, while Ferguson dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Marte's morning made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Olajuwon, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Downey Christian, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech Tigers face off against the Westminster Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Downey Christian, they will take on Jordan Christian Prep on January 7, 2025. Downey Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Jordan Christian Prep likes a good challenge.
