Baseball Game Preview: Forrest Rockets vs. Eagleville Eagles

The Forrest Rockets will square off against the Eagleville Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Forrest couldn't beat Summertown on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Rockets took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Rockets have lost by exactly three runs.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Eagleville faced off against Hampshire on Tuesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Hawks. Considering the Eagles have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carter Blair and Brody Gleason did most of the damage at the plate: Blair went 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Gleason went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Gleason is becoming a predictor of Eagleville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 12-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kelten Freeze, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eagleville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hampshire only managed six.

Forrest has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. As for Eagleville, their victory bumped their record up to 17-13.

Forrest was able to grind out a solid win over Eagleville in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 3-0. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
