Baseball Recap: Francis Lewis Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cardozo

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Francis Lewis). They put the hurt on the Cardozo Judges with a sharp 13-5 win on Thursday. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Matthew R looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Renos Pagiatakas, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Espn Fan, who scored four runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4.

The victory (which was Francis Lewis' third in a row) raised their record to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cardozo, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Francis Lewis will face off against Architecture, Engineering and Construction at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cardozo, they will challenge Beacon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
