Volleyball Recap: Coginchaug Regional Comes Up Short

Coginchaug Regional was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Morgan Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on September 2nd.

While Coginchaug Regional ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-19, 24-26, 25-17.

Addison Costa paced Coginchaug Regional's offense, picking up 11 kills. Costa got some help from Peyton Smolley and her ten assists. Costa was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Coginchaug Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Morgan, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.

Coginchaug Regional didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Old Lyme on the 25th. As for Morgan, they will be playing at home against East Hampton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
