Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Montgomery). They were the clear victors by a 26-3 margin over the Crawfordsville Athenians on Tuesday. The Chargin' Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.
Piper Ramey made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, North Montgomery got a massive performance out of Ella McManomy, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most runs McManomy has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kendra McClamroch, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.
North Montgomery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .617. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crawfordsville only posted an OBP of .375.
The win snapped North Montgomery's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 8-14 record. As for Crawfordsville, their record is now 2-18.
North Montgomery will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Athenians: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
