Baseball Game Preview: Palmyra Panthers vs. Macon Tigers

The Palmyra Panthers will face off against the Macon Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Palmyra's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Macon has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Palmyra is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over Bowling Green on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Bryant Horstmeier was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Palmyra is 2-1 when Horstmeier posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cade Lehman, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Palmyra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Macon didn't have quite enough to beat Hannibal on Monday and fell 2-1.

Macon's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Palmyra, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Palmyra took their victory against Macon when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-12 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
