Baseball Recap: Smyrna Comes Up Short

Smyrna extended their losing streak to ten on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-23 in the process. They lost 14-4 to the Stewarts Creek Red Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Red Hawks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 7-1 loss on April 2nd.

As for Stewarts Creek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-15. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

For Stewarts Creek's part, the team relied heavily on Ben Bryant, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Bryant a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shawn Rhodes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Smyrna does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stewarts Creek, they have already played their next match, a 5-2 victory against Cookeville on the 1st.
