Lakewood Ranch is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Riverview Sarasota is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mustangs will welcome the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lakewood Ranch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Lakewood Ranch earned an 8-4 win over Lake Placid.
Jenna May spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kendal McCoy was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Maddison Anderson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, while Riverview Sarasota put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Manatee. The Rams put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 7-0 victory. Considering the Rams have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Allison Cole, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep Manatee off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nicolette Forkan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brinly Dimon, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Riverview Sarasota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manatee only posted an OBP of .091.
Lakewood Ranch now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Riverview Sarasota, their win bumped their record up to 14-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Lakewood Ranch has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Riverview Sarasota struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lakewood Ranch came up short against Riverview Sarasota in their previous matchup back in February, falling 4-1. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
