Preview: Wootton Patriots vs. Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons
Wootton and Bethesda-Chevy Chase are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Wootton Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Wootton will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Last Monday, Wootton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 win over Walter Johnson.
Jaiden Aze was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Khairi Hyde, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Bethesda-Chevy Chase didn't have too much trouble with Walter Johnson on the road on Friday as they won 66-47.
Wootton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Bethesda-Chevy Chase, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Wootton was able to grind out a solid win over Bethesda-Chevy Chase in their previous matchup back in January, winning 59-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wootton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
