Nathan Fluke commands the offense for a Vikings win

Recap: Willapa Valley Vikings vs. Washington School for the Deaf Terriers

The Willapa Valley Vikings had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Washington School for the Deaf on Thursday and snuck past 47-44. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Willapa Valley also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Willapa Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nathan Fluke, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Ritzman, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.

Washington School for the Deaf's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kwabena White-Star, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. White-Star is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Julian Robinson, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.

The victory got Willapa Valley back to even at 6-6. As for Washington School for the Deaf, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willapa Valley will take on Naselle at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Washington School for the Deaf, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Pe Ell at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th.
