Preview: Carbon Dinos vs. Juab Wasps
Carbon has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Juab Wasps at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carbon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Juab likes a good challenge.
Carbon can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 71-39 victory over North Sanpete. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Carbon has posted since December 12, 2023.
It was another big night for Amiah Timothy, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Carbon's points. Madison Orth was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Juab was able to grind out a solid win over Emery on Thursday, taking the game 60-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Juab.
Juab can attribute much of their success to Lucy Richards, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Richards scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Hyatt, who scored 12 points.
Carbon pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Juab, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Carbon have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Juab, though, as they've been averaging only 30.5 rebounds per game. Given Carbon's sizeable advantage in that area, Juab will need to find a way to close that gap.
Carbon won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, slipping by Juab 56-55. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Juab's Ava Cuff, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Carbon still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
