Softball Game Preview: Firelands Falcons vs. Brookside Cardinals

The Firelands Falcons will challenge the Brookside Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Firelands is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, Firelands came up short against Norwalk and fell 7-4.

Jeanette Crawford was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aubrynn Reichle, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Brookside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 9-3 to Keystone.

Trinity Arend made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Brookside's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Firelands, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Firelands has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brookside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Firelands was able to grind out a solid win over Brookside in their previous meeting on April 8th, winning 20-17. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
