Basketball Game Preview: Atlantic Collegiate Academy Armada vs. Lake City Panthers

The Atlantic Collegiate Academy Armada will challenge the Lake City Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Atlantic Collegiate Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Lake City likes a good challenge.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Crestwood, who was ranked 12th at the time (Atlantic Collegiate Academy was ranked 11th). Atlantic Collegiate Academy managed a 67-61 win over Crestwood on Sunday.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylen Bellamy, who posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Anton Daniels, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake City). They skirted past Hartsville 79-76. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Panthers were down 54-40 in the third quarter.

Lake City had a senior duo take command as Kenjae Burgess dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 assists and Devin Cockfield dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burgess has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Mari Hanna, who put up 13 points and six assists.

Bellamy wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Lake City was working as a unit and finished the game with 29 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lake City has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Atlantic Collegiate Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Everything came up roses for Atlantic Collegiate Academy against Lake City when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the squad secured an 84-53 victory.
