Preview: Sun Valley Spartans vs. Queen's Grant Stallions
The Sun Valley Spartans will be playing at home against the Queen's Grant Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Sun Valley and five for Queen's Grant.
Last Friday, Sun Valley came up short against Ardrey Kell and fell 56-48. While losing is never fun, Sun Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Ardrey Kell is ranked 16th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Tyra Robinson, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds. She scored a full 35.4% of Sun Valley's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Chloe Grant was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Queen's Grant was beaten by University Christian 73-6 on Friday. Queen's Grant was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-4.
Sarah Graham was Queen's Grant's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Sun Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Queen's Grant, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
