Baseball Game Preview: Perry Meridian Falcons vs. Plainfield Quakers

The Perry Meridian Falcons will face off against the Plainfield Quakers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Saturday, Perry Meridian came up short against Covenant Christian and fell 7-3. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aiden Kerr put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.

Kerr wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was DJ Clymore, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Clymore has become a key player for Perry Meridian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-8 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Plainfield didn't have quite enough to beat Center Grove on Monday and fell 3-2. The Quakers haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Perry Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Plainfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Perry Meridian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Plainfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Perry Meridian skirted past Plainfield 8-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Quakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
