Volleyball Recap: South Point Takes a Loss

South Point entered their matchup against Kings Mountain on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Red Raiders lost 3-0 to the Mountaineers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mountaineers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-16, 25-17.

Olivia Easton paced South Point's offense, picking up 14 kills. Easton got some help from Ava Cooper and her 22 assists. Kerry Gozur controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Ava Tipton went supernova For Kings Mountain., getting 19 digs and one assist. Denet Houey also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

South Point suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 15-9. As for Kings Mountain, the victory was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 27-1.

Coming up, South Point will square off against East Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kings Mountain, they will face off against East Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
