Basketball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 52-21 defeat at the hands of the Valley Buffalos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffalos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-19 back in January.

Valley was led to victory by Rachel Cox and Andee Anderson. Cox almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine steals, while Anderson went 8 for 13 to rack up 18 points and six rebounds. Cox is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Maddie Cox also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Monticello wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 42-39 defeat against Dolores on the 4th. As for Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 48-36 loss against Panguitch on the 5th.
