Softball Game Preview: Fort Bend Bush Broncos vs. Fort Bend Travis Tigers

Fort Bend Bush is 0-10 against Fort Bend Travis since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Broncos will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fort Bend Bush will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Fort Bend Elkins, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Broncos blew past the Knights 17-6 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Broncos considering their one-run performance the game before.

Kiersten Kyle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalee Willis, who scored four runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Victoria Aldridge, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Fort Bend Bush hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, while Fort Bend Travis put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Fort Bend Austin. The Tigers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 13-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Fort Bend Travis pushed their record up to 9-7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Bend Bush, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7-1.
