Baseball Recap: Trigg County Comes Up Short

Trigg County lost to Crittenden County back in April and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wildcats took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets.

Ty Gootee put in work no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Bentley Reynolds was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Cannon Scott was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Trigg County has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season. As for Crittenden County, their record now sits at 12-16.

Coming up, Trigg County will be playing in front of their home fans against Livingston Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.23 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Crittenden County, they will venture away from home to face off against Paducah Tilghman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
