Basketball Recap: McQueen Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wooster on Friday, McQueen came back down to earth. The McQueen Lancers took a blow against the Reno Huskies on Friday, falling 60-26. The Lancers lost against the Huskies in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 48-39 score last time.

Despite the loss, McQueen had strong showings from Izzy Richards, who posted three points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Audrey Baumgardner, who earned six points.

Reno found their leader in sophomore Violet Gordon, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals. The contest was Gordon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brookesly Wilson, who had 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

McQueen has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Reno, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

McQueen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 36-35 defeat against South Tahoe on the 28th. As for Reno, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-32 victory against Fernley on the 28th.
