Basketball Game Preview: Apple Valley Sun Devils vs. Granite Hills Cougars

The Apple Valley Sun Devils will head out on the road to take on the Granite Hills Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Apple Valley came up short against Victor Valley and fell 78-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (61), the Sun Devils still had to take the loss.

Apple Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trey Germany, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds, and Jeremiah Wilkerson, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Those 25 points gave Germany a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Rae, who posted six points.

Meanwhile, Granite Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Serrano and fell 49-22.

Granite Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Apple Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Apple Valley strolled past Granite Hills in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 by a score of 72-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Apple Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
