Basketball Recap: Kemper County Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Kemper County duked it out withMcLaurin on Tuesday. The Kemper County Wildcats received a blow as they fell 61-45 to the McLaurin Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Tigers are ranked 87th).

McLaurin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was KJ Cannon out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards Cannon has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Michael Wallace, who posted 15 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Kemper County dropped their record down to 8-17 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for McLaurin, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.

Kemper County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. McLaurin has already played their next contest (against Southeast Lauderdale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
