Baseball Game Preview: Merrill Bluejays vs. D.C. Everest Evergreens

Merrill is 1-6 against D.C. Everest since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bluejays will look to defend their home field against the Evergreens at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

Merrill barely beat Crandon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bluejays were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Cardinals on Monday. The Bluejays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, D.C. Everest came tearing into Saturday's contest with 17 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 10-3 victory. D.C. Everest's win was all the more impressive since the Wolves were averaging only 3.52 runs allowed on the season.

D.C. Everest's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Merrill, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-11.

Merrill skirted past D.C. Everest 6-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Bluejays repeat their success, or do the Evergreens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
