Recap: Western Alamance Warriors vs. Lee County Yellow Jackets
With a playoff game on the line, the Western Alamance Warriors rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Yellow Jackets 67-20 at home. Winning may never get old, but Western Alamance sure is getting used to it with their 16th in a row.
Western Alamance's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allie Sykes led the charge by scoring 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tina Bowers, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Lee County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kelyce Mcswain, who scored seven points, and Gillian Garrison who scored six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lee County struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Western Alamance racked up 16 assists.
Western Alamance has been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 20 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Lee County, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-12.
Western Alamance will square off against E.E. Smith at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. E.E. Smith is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Lee County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
